Marley is an accomplished actress, adventurer and internationally recognised canine film star. The daughter of an elegant French Poodle and a spirited Yorkshire Terrier, she inherited impeccable style, refined manners and just enough terrier determination to ensure she usually gets her own way.
Born in Paris, Marley spent her puppyhood between the French capital and her family's villa in the South of France before attending an exclusive Swiss finishing school, where she developed a love of etiquette, fine dining and alpine adventure. She later moved to London to study at LAMDA, refining her natural talent for performance before embarking on an award-winning film career.
Today, Marley divides her time between London and her riverside home near Henley-on-Thames. Off-screen she enjoys an enviable lifestyle that includes driving her limited-edition Moke International "56", wearing her celebrated freshwater pearl necklace, dining on premium kibble and rare Swiss free-range chicken served on sterling silver, trekking across Nepal's spectacular Cho La Pass, paragliding over Lake Annecy as a BHPA Advanced Pilot, relaxing in luxury alpine spas, and listening to the unmistakable sounds of DJ Nahwahimean, whose music frequently features in her productions.
Although best known as one half of the celebrated Bertie & Marley partnership, the pair are just as adventurous away from the cameras as they are on them. Their films have seen them portray heroes in extraordinary stories — including Royal Flying Corps pilots who rescued the legendary Golden Egg of Aurelion during the First World War — but their off-screen exploits are scarcely less remarkable. Between productions they continue to explore the world together, embarking on expeditions, solving mysteries and finding themselves in adventures that are every bit as improbable as the roles they play.
"The only difference between real life and the films is that in real life we don't have to wait for the director to shout 'Action!'" — Bertie
Celebrity canine stars reveal all. Here's the full, unabridged list of Marley's essentials — spoiled, as promised.
A four-poster fit for royalty. Marley does not compromise on thread count.
Her Mini Moke — a little red runabout for riverside outings, always parked with the top down.
A pearl necklace and ID disc. The Peacock Pearls, to be precise — a double strand with a dark centrepiece, and the namesake of her latest film, currently in production.
Kibble & chicken, served like a queen — silver platter, candlelight, and a flower arrangement non-negotiable.
Trekking through famous mountain passes. She travels in a proper harness and expects a view at the summit.
Paragliding. Sunglasses on, paws up, entirely unbothered by the altitude.
Anything by DJ Nahwahimean. She has been known to take over the decks herself.
Oatmeal & orange, in a huge pedestal bath. Cucumber slices — sorry, orange slices — optional but encouraged.
